Problem is I don't want 11 different tips - I just want the 0.3 - that is the one I use for drawing and the one I like the best. A pack of purely 0.3 (or any other size it seems) with the pen doesn't seem to be an option here.

So much great information. Thank you. I'm starting my journey and haven't really plucked up the courage to go outside and sketch. I'm getting to the point with your videos where I may just reach that spot where i am brave enough :-)

Tbh my book of doodles is far better than any larger picture I try to focus on. I think I am going to make my larger pieces “bigger doodles” and see if that works. Perhaps doodling is a perspective and reframing will change my approach to bigger pieces. Thanks for yet another insight Toby.

Toby...sorry i beg to differ. Im still new to urban sketching but not new to painting. For me...continuous line drawing creates too many hard edges and not really loose. Infact to me just sketching outline as required is enough and rest colours will take care. Example if im sketching a tree...i would just draw some broken outlines and inner curves...then go for colour to get the values...this way i will savetime and do quick sketches in urban sketching. I feel continuous lines create more irregular caged lining...looks more cartoonish for me. I hope im wrong...as most of the famous Urbansketchers say exactly like you. Like Lynn chapman in her book too😊

I have had this video pinned to watch for month. I have been out of sketching for over three years and have been too "afraid" to pick it back up for fear I'd lost both and skill I had developed and the joy it brought me. Finally forced myself to do it today and it was SO REWARDING! Toby is such a good teacher and this tutorial was a gift to me this morning!

for my metal paint palettes I took some strong strip magnet and strong strip velcro. The sticky side of both made them quite secure together! I also got a collapsible plastic cup and attached some strong velcro to the bottom and it just stays in the bag

I wish you could do closer views when you do the smaller marks especially, but also all your sketching,I’m seeing two big hand but not so much the mark making, I tried to enlarge that area but it goes out of focus quickly on my phone. I love your work, do not want to copy it, just see exactly what you do , then when I understand your marks, then go on to make my own😊
